The Fall of the Lich King

Posted by KharismaMarch 10, 2010 at 12:02 pm
It is with great pleasure that I scribble this message with blood on my hands.  Let it be known that the might of Ex Raided has been shown yet again.  Our epic battle with The Lich King was a long and trying one, but in the end we have emerged victorious.

An exceptional fight by all accounts.  This encounter is tuned at an amazingly high level, and certainly challenged us.  The difficulties of an encounter that lasts 10 minutes are well documented, adding another 5+ minutes exponentially multiplies the chance for mistakes.  We certainly feel bad for undisciplined guilds that lack focus, as this encounter should prove to be a total nightmare for them. . . . Too bad Blizzard is giving everyone 30% more Health, Damage and healing in the coming future.  heh.  Regardless, we got this done with only the 5% buff, and the fight was epic and well designed.  Congrats to Blizzard on impressing us so much with the encounter.

A Tribute to Insanity! Sorta..

I know we are lagging a bit behind on this achievement, but it is legiatemly blamed on lack of Mortal Strike (for about 6 months).

We mowed right through it last night. . . We a few seconds of butt pucker at the end of the Anub fight (No MT for about 15 seconds!), but we got it done.
All we have left from older achievements is Alone in the Dark and a few of the Algalon achievements.  We plan to start work on them next week!

The Nerfed Blood Queen. . . .

Another week, another wing.  We wrapped up Blood Queen Lana'thel in 4 attempts on tuesday night.  We were a little disappointed that after we had her totally figured out the previous Tuesday, they nerfed her on Wednesday.  She is much easier now, only taking us 4 attempts to get the timing changes figured out.  We anxiously await the opening of The Frostwing Halls.

Arthas, we are coming for you.

A Tribute to Mad SkillZ!

Nothing too exciting to report, since this is old content.  However, we would like to extend a warm welcome to our newest addition, Yseriah.  She proved her worth last night on both Anub and Algalon, and now proudly wears the Ex Raided tag.  Welcome!!!

Yseriah joining us allowed Kibitz to switch over to his hunter, giving the raid a much needed Mortal Strike.  A Tribute to Mad Skill and Anub'arak, in general, was a bit of a joke with MS.  We really don't recommend wasting your time on this asshole without MS ;)

So the Professor Putricide fight is a blast.  I'd say it is well tuned and requires a half way decent strategy.  Ex Raided wiped 17 times on him before claiming victory. . .
It took at least half of those wipes to learn how to deal with the Abom / Slime puddles. . . The other half we will chalk up to attempting to 9 man him last week.

Victory is ours!  (PS: Warmeister, GET OFF MY SANDBOX TIGER!)

Putricides Pukes. . . .

Festergut and Rotface proved no real problem for Ex Raided. . . . Less than 8 attempts on both was enough to get the job done.

I think we have a pretty good grasp on Putricide, having him below 50% on multiple attempts.  I have no doubt that he will fall to our might this week.

In the meantime, killshots of the stinky Aboms. (Click the small images for fullsize!)

Full House is a Winner!

Well, being a bit cynical, we have finally found something in Icecrown that is challenging.  Majority of the challenge is related to the RNG and a few bugs that need squashed. . . .  But the Full House (10) achievement is far and away the most challenging event we have completed since Yogg 3 Keepers.  This son of a gun kept us going for 3 hours straight last night.  The strategy is complex and requires near perfect execution, coupled with lots of luck.  My best wishes go out to undisciplined guilds that are attempting to accomplish this achievement. . . .

We are especially proud of this achievment as it is a server first (10 and 25 man), and only the 10th completion worldwide (Strict 10 Worldwide)
.  Edit: Looks like Unleashed (a 25man guild) didnt update their guildox for a few days.  They were infact rewarded the server first 10 man Full House.  However, further review it looks like xR was only the 11th *strict* 10 man guild WORLDWIDE to accomplish this achievement.  (Update your Guildox more regularly, BITCHES!!)

Kudos to everyone for hanging in there during this frustrating achievement.  Now open the frickin' gates, Blizzard!

Storming The Citadel!

The launch of 3.3 has come and gone.  Needless to say we are disappointe d with the difficulty level of the first wing.  4 hours worth of work and everything was down, WITHOUT the use of any strats.  We read nothing going into the fights and basically took an attempt or two to figure things out.  I actually think that we had the most difficulty with Lord Marrowgar, simply because we had some folks with framerate issues.

Personally, I am impressed with the look and feel of the iCC, I just hope they ramp up the difficulty level really quickly! Needless to say, we were annoyed when the guy at the top of the tower told us it should only take the engineers 28 days to open the doors. . . I mean seriously? What kind of frickin' doors are these??!  Back to achievement farming for us!
